AUTHOR POV

Pri pay the bill and all friends start walking. Talking carefree and thinking about there brothers. Then kiara stop in her track reality hit her so hard.

Pri and kanvi notice it and also stop and go near to kiara. Then pri said "dii why you stopped?"

KANVI: yeah kira why you stopped so suddenly.

KIARA: because you both don't realize what we all say

PRI: what do you mean by that

KIARA: when we all were in a store we said that our brothers put a team to find us but we forgot that we don't have brothers which brothers we are talking about and mine real one stay away from me.

Kiara has tears in last line. But reality also give a hard slap to pri and kanvi. Kanvi "I forgot that mom married again."

PRI & KIARA: whatt but mine mom also married again

They all looked at each other. And there jaws are dropped on ground. Well if kiara not make good bonds with Chauhan and they all see kiara in that state they must be happy. Because kiara was becoming a brat with them.

KANVI: raab ne eko ji kismat likhi ha sade sariya di

(God write same fate for all of us)

PRIYANSHI: you are saying right dii first our past are also same and now this

KIARA: I think we all meet one time, sit and tell what happen

KANVI: you are right but know i need to bye anklets so let's go

KIARA: I also need to buy a jade braclet

PRIYANSHI: I don't want any jewelry but I am coming to help you guys

KANVI: ok let's go

Then they all entered a shop which was kanvi mom shop because she own no.1 jewelry brand in India.

Then the head of that shop come and welcome the trio and said "good afternoon mam how can I help you."

The trio said good afternoon and kanvi said she wanna buy anklets and kiara said she wanna buy jade braclets.

The head start to shop them design and pri also start helping them. Then kiara eyes lock on 2 jade braclets. Pri notice this and say "dii your choice is good. We should buy them"

In that time kanvi also select anklets for her and her friends. Kiara told the head to pack those things. Kanvi was start to going to pay but kiara stop her and say "kannu this time i am going to pay."

KANVI: no this time i am going to pay

KIARA: kannu please let me pay. Showing her puppy eyes which noone can resist. Kiara happily pay for the stuff.

Kiara braclet

Zara braclet

Kiara message Vikram that she was done with her shopping. He said that they are also done so they are coming straight to restaurant and asked her to reach there.

Kiara already brought perfume and watch for boys in last shop. She said "guy's I am going to restaurant meet you all later."

KANVI: I am also going to a restaurant

PRIYANSHI: ohh I am also coming because now I am really hungry

KIARA: ok let's go

From across the corridor, a group of seven boys, who are none other than Kanvi's brothers watched silently, whispering among themselves.

"Why is she hitting those guys? She's so... indiscipline," Abhimaan whispered.

"She's making a scene!" Ashutosh muttered, shaking his head.

"She's supposed to behave, right? Not just go around fighting," Nishant said, frowning.

"Maybe she's trouble," Nirvaan added.

"Discipline is important... she's ruining the vibe," Daksh said, folding his arms.

"Totally reckless," Krunal, the youngest whispered.

"Bet her teachers hate her," Daksh snickered quietly.

"She looks strong... but why do it in public?" muttered Reet, the quietest one.

None of them had seen the way the boys had been harassing the girl. They didn't know the fear, the panic, or the courage it took for Priyanshi to step in. All they saw was a girl hitting boys in the mall and assumed she was "indiscipline."

Meanwhile, Priyanshi helped the girl steady herself, her eyes scanning the corridor for any remaining trouble. She had no idea about the small group of onlookers forming opinions from a distance.

For her, there was no shame, no hesitation-just the certainty that standing up for someone in danger was the right thing to do.

And that was all that mattered.

Kanvi said to her friends "let's go to our brothers guys, bye."

Flashback (of how it happened)

The mall corridor buzzed with the usual weekend chaos, shoppers drifting past stores and kiosks. Priyanshi was towards the washroom, when a sharp, panicked voice cut through the chatter

"Hey! Let go of me!"

Priyanshi's eyes snapped to the source. A girl was being grabbed roughly by three boys near the food court, her bag tugged, her arms pinned.

Without hesitation, Priyanshi sprinted toward them. "Let her go!" she shouted.

The boys laughed mockingly. "Or what, princess?" one sneered.

Priyanshi didn't waste a second.

She ducked the first boy's grab and slammed her elbow into his stomach, forcing him to double over. Before he could recover, her fist shot forward, hitting his jaw with a satisfying crack. He staggered back, clutching his face.

The second boy swung at her from the side. She caught his wrist, twisted it sharply, and with a swift kick to his knee, sent him sprawling onto the floor. His friends shouted in shock.

The third boy, enraged, tried to push her against the wall. Priyanshi moved like lightning—ducking low, sweeping his legs with a kick, and following it with a palm strike to his chest that knocked him off balance. He hit the floor hard, groaning.

The first boy tried to lunge again, but Priyanshi caught him mid-swing, twisting his arm behind his back. "Enough," she snapped, her voice calm but deadly. "Leave her alone."

Within a minute, all three boys were on the ground, rubbing bruises, stunned by the girl they had underestimated. Priyanshi's chest heaved with adrenaline, her eyes blazing.

The girl she had saved looked at her, wide-eyed. "Th-thank you..." she stammered.

Priyanshi brushed off her hands and straightened. "No one touches someone in my presence," she said firmly.

In the food court

Kanvi said "are you guys done with shopping?" to her brothers. To which abhimaan replied " yes we are done but where are your shopping bags cause the gaurds took ours to keep in the car." Kanvi "yeah, mine is getting packed it will take time so till then we can continue eating. Let's go."

While they were going Abhimaan spotted two figures which were none other than ' Zorawar Chauhan ' and 'Reyansh Chauhan' his two friends whom he was unable to meet due to some work from months and spotted them now. They were sitting opposite corners back facing that's why they didn't noticed each other  but abhimaan noticed them and said to Ashutosh "Ashu, see chauhan and Reyansh let's go there."

Then kanvi heard them and ask "you guys know them?" Krunal "offcourse they are businessman kanvi and friends also so they know eachother."

They moved towards them and then Zorawar and Reyansh realised they were there all at same time for shopping.

[A/N: Abhimaan from mine book has P along with its name like this Abhimaan(P) and Abhimaan from Kanvi's book has K along with its name like this Abhimaan(K).]

They all greeted each other and were going to introduce, but to their surprise Kanvi, Kiara and Priyanshi hugging each other. So, Kunal asked Kiara in curiosity "Kiara do you know them?"

Kiara "Oh yeah, they are my friends I was gone to do shopping with them."

To which everyone made an 'O' face. Then Ashutosh said looking at Zorawar and Abhimaan(P) "Now tell us their names and also which one is your sister."

Abhimaan(P) said "Ok so this is Priyanshi, our Bacha, I mean sister. Remember I told you about her." He said taking Priyanshi's hand in his.

Zorawar "This is Kiara, our little trouble." He said winking towards her to which Kiara also winked mischievously. And then Vikram said "so she must be Kanvi, right? Your stepsister."

Ashutosh just nodded looking at them and trio of girls also greeted 'Hello' to everyone. But the brain of Kanvi's brother raced in other direction some have thoughts like ' they never judge wrong so how they can say Priyanshi to be indiscipline.' some like ' why we don't have bond like them with Kanvi, and many more thoughts. During their thoughts they all sat together and ordered the food while food was coming everyone was talking and suddenly Zorawar's phone buzzed and he excused himself to talk while everyone continued their talks.

When Zorawar came after attending the call he saw the food was served and everyone was waiting for him, so he said, "sorry guys the call was urgent to attend."

While eating Zorawar said, "Abhimaan(P) and Abhimaan(K) why don't we try to beat the dark angel, the Mafia queen of Russia that way we can be on top what you say?"

Everyone thought 'Why is he talking about that right now?'

Abhimaan(P) said "What do you mean, Zorawar?"

Zorawar " I mean what if we will do a collaboration with dark angel and when she will start trusting us blindly, we will kill her."

Everyone has shocking reactions of what he was saying while Kanvi and Priyanshi tried to act as they don't understand what they were talking about. Zorawar winked at brothers signing to play with him and do as he say.

They didn't understand what he wanted to say but decided to follow him. But something changed in Kiara's expression and she asked, "do you really think you could fool her this easily, Awar bhai?"

Ashutosh: you are saying it like you know her personally. (He said being shocked that how can a 17-year-old talk like this about dark angel like if they don't know her personally.)

Kiara:  I— I don't know her. I just umm I have heard of her from BTS.

(She lied stammering while everyone saw her Chauhan's in shock as she never stumbled saying anything.)

Kanvi/Priyanshi: Who is she?

Kanvi: What a creepy name though 'Dark Angel'.

(Kanvi and Priyanshi who were pretending not to understand anything asked in a tone as if they are all innocent and confuse what they are talking.)

Now everyone seeing what to say so to not give them shock Abhimaan(P) who was sitting beside Vihaan covered it up saying " oh ha vo hamara business ki baat h tum bache mat dhyan do"

[Oh! It's our business talk, you kids don't have to pay attention, to it.]

Ashutosh: Btw how do you know BTS?

Kiara: Ye question bhot karta ha Kanvi pata nhi isse kaise sambhalti ha. (in mind)

(He questions a lot don't know how Kanvi handles him.)

Kiara: I live with them in past.

Ashutosh: Oh, ok.

Ashutosh: Mujhe yeh ladki kuch ajeeb lag rahi ha agar iska BTS se sabandh ha to ye pakka underworld ma hogi or shayad Kanvi and Pri bhi ho sakti ha (in mind).

[I find this girl weird. she has connections with BTS means with underworld too. Or maybe Kanvi and Pri has too.]

Kanvi: Chalo ab bate mat karo kha lo.

[Ok now stop talking and eat.]

Kanvi, Priyanshi and Kanvi look at each other. After whatever Zorawar said they know Kiara is dark angel. They clenched their jaw because no one can betray them. If someone try, they see the hell even devil is scared of their hell.

Kiara: Aaj to bar bar bachi or Awar bhaiya apko kya lagta ha mujhe betray karna itna asan ha nhi ye apki galt fami ha.

[I just got saved at the border line today and Awar bhaiya you think betraying me us that easy no then it's your misunderstanding.]

After that everyone eat their food and Abhimaan(P) pay for food. Meanwhile others are insisting to pay but Abhimaan(P) don't agree and pay. But at that time Kiara, Kanvi and Priyanshi go in a corner.

Priyanshi: Kira di ye tera bhai tujhe dhoka dene ka baat kar raha tha.

[Kira di your brother was talking about betraying you.]

Kanvi: Or Ki thoda dekh kar bola kar abhi sab ko shak ho gaya tha.

[Ki speaks carefully, just now everyone got a hint.]

Kiara: I know Kanvi and Pri, I am thinking Awar bhaiya found out that I am dark angel and Kanvi your brother asks so much question.

Kanvi: I know puri CBI ki team ban jate ha ye.

[I know they become a whole CBI team]

Kiara: Kaise sambhal rahi ha tu unhe.

[Nothing, i need to handle them.]

Kanvi: Kuch nhi bas sambhalna padega.

Priyanshi: Di itne dino ke baad ham sabhi mile ha bike race par chale.

[Di we met after so much time. Why don't we go on a bike race?]

Kiara and Kanvi look at her, and she understand what she just said. Then Kiara said, "ok let's go I don't care if they even found out."

Kanvi just face palmed herself but smile at her small sister's antics.

Kanvi: Ok let's go but this time we are going on our track not on underworld.

PRIYANSHI: ok dii

After that they all go towards there brother and they all exit the mall from a secret side as they don't want any attention now.

Everyone sit on there car and go toward there mansion. Kiara was really quiet and her brothers also feel this that something was wrong but didn't said anything.

In just 1 hour they reach Chauhan mansion. Whole time ride was silent. They all enter the mansion. Kiara eyes widen when she see a man back. But before she say something that men turn toward them. And kiara face fell because he is not her brother.

Now kiara was confused who he was so she from Vikram "ram bhaiya who is he?"

VIKRAM: ki-i he is our bro-ther (gulped)

KIARA: what do you mean he is your brother

KUNAL: he is adopted son of chauhans

KIARA: whatttt

Chauhan brothers know this time come and they are ready for it. But maybe they are not. They know kiara hate when someone hide something from her.

KIARA: vohh ek hor step brother pata nhi tha kuch jadi badi news ha

VIKRAM: bacha we are sorry we want to tell you but we don't know how

KIARA: ok I understand just give me some time it's a huge information to digest

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

SAMARTH CHAUHAN (20)

Can be a green forest for you if you are on his good side. Don't have good relationship with Chauhan. They have normal-normal relationship with them. Complete his study and college live in a hostel. Know about Kiara. Doesn't know anything about mafia. Going to start a law firm.

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

SAMARTH: hi kiara i am samarth

KIARA: hi samarth sir

KIARA: bhai I am going to spend some time with kanvi and Priyanshi. I meet them after a long time

Chauhans brother know that kiara need time so they don't said anything. And everyone go to there room. Meanwhile samarth thought "again chauhans you don't even try to ecnouladge my presence like always and kiara i make you on my side."

After saying that he went to a guest room. He had a room in Chauhan mansion but not here.

Kiara was in a room and she was thinking that when she hacked Chauhans information. She don't get any information about samarth. She quickly freshen up and go for car race.

She quickly go to garage and take her super car. Which she love's a lot and thinking about her real brother who was going to come today. And ask Alex to take her bike.

*******************************************************

The sky looked like someone had spilled peach and gold watercolors across it, the kind of sunset that begged for drama. The highway outside town was mostly empty, stretching endlessly like an open invitation for stupidity. Naturally, Kanvi, Kiara and Priyanshi accepted it without hesitation.

Kiara was the first to get restless. She kicked a tiny stone across the road and sighed loudly enough to be heard from three houses away. “Why does this sunset look like something dramatic is supposed to happen? It’s giving Bollywood climax vibes.”

Kanvi didn’t even glance up as she tied her shoelace. “Relax. If there’s a climax happening, it’s probably the universe finally losing patience with your nonsense.”

Priyanshi was adjusting her helmet and nearly dropped it because she laughed too hard. “Honestly, Kira di, you could turn brushing your teeth into a dramatic moment.”

Kiara scoffed, flipping her hair like an offended heroine. “You both are jealous. I am built for cinematic experiences.”

“Cinematic my foot,” Priyanshi snorted. “You’re built for chaos and bad decisions.”

And that was their normal—a perfect balance of roasting, affection, and complete madness.

The race had not been planned. It was the product of boredom, ego, and Kiara’s inability to shut up. Kanvi had boasted that her bike was smoother after servicing. Priyanshi instantly disagreed, offended on behalf of her own vehicle. And Kiara, fueled by pure delusion and sugar from the cold coffee she’d chugged earlier, declared, “Let’s race. Right now. On the highway. No excuses.”

Which was how they ended up here, with bikes lined up, hearts thumping, and brains switched off.

“My bike is ready to dominate,” Priyanshi announced with full dramatic flair as she stretched her arms like she was preparing for Olympic finals.

“Just hoping your brain cooperates,” Kiara muttered.

Kanvi shot back, “Leave her brain, I’m praying her bike doesn’t explode.”

Priyanshi glared at both. “Ek race se pehle thoda encouragement dene ka koi thought nahi aata tum dono ko?”

“We’re realistic people,” Kiara said calmly.

“And you’re a disaster magnet,” Kanvi added.

“Wow. Love this friendship,” Priyanshi deadpanned.

Kanvi hopped onto her bike and patted its fuel tank lovingly. “Baby, please don’t embarrass me. It’s a matter of pride today. Don’t act like your owner.”

Kiara stared blankly. “Are you flirting with your bike?”

Priyanshi burst into giggles. “Imagine being so single you start complimenting machines.”

“I hate both of you,” Kanvi declared.

“You love us,” Kiara replied.

“Unfortunately,” Priyanshi added.

They pulled their helmets on, tightened their grip on the handles, and revved their engines. The roar echoed through the empty stretch. Kanvi’s leg bounced with excited energy, Kiara rolled her shoulders to relax, and Priyanshi shook her hands dramatically like a fighter entering a ring.

“Okay,” Kiara said, raising her voice over the engine noise, “On three.”

Kanvi’s grin was wide enough to split her face. “Let’s go.”

“One!” Priyanshi yelled.

“Two!” Kiara shouted.

“THREE!” Kanvi screamed—

And the world exploded in sound.

Their bikes shot forward together, tires screeching against the asphalt. The sudden burst of speed pushed their bodies back, and the wind slapped their clothes against them. For a few seconds, everything felt like freedom.

Kanvi immediately surged ahead, yelling joyfully, “SEE YOU AT THE FINISH LINE, LOSERS!”

“Shut up!” Kiara shouted, accelerating after her.

Priyanshi leaned closer to her bike, eyes narrowed, lips pressed together in determination. “Oh no you don’t, drama queen!”

Within seconds, Priyanshi cut ahead of both of them with surprising ease. The wind roared around them, the world blurring into streaks of orange, gray, and green. Their laughter mixed with their screams and the engines’ rumble.

Kiara caught up to Kanvi’s side. “You talk more than you race!”

Kanvi shook her head like a maniac. “I multitask!”

“You annoy!” Kiara corrected, increasing her speed.

Priyanshi looked back while racing—a terrible idea—yet she still managed to shout, “Concentrate, idiot Didi's! I don’t trust either of you behind me!”

“Then come behind!” Kanvi yelled.

“NEVER!” Priyanshi yelled back.

The road dipped suddenly halfway, and Kanvi, reckless as ever, didn’t slow down.

Kiara screamed, “KANVI! SLOW DOWN!”

“THIS IS FINE!” Kanvi shouted, absolutely not fine.

Her bike hit the dip, bounced, wobbled dangerously—Priyanshi actually gasped aloud mid-race.

“KANU DI ARE YOU INSANE?” Priyanshi yelled.

“I CAN HANDLE IT!” Kanvi declared confidently.

The bike swerved.

“NO I CAN’T—WAIT—YES I CAN—NO—OKAY—YES!”

“God save me,” Kiara muttered as she steadied her own bike.

Kanvi somehow managed to straighten out, laughing like near-death was a comedy show. “SEE? TOTALLY UNDER CONTROL.”

“Your brain is out of control,” Kiara snapped.

Priyanshi shouted, “Every day I learn a new reason why you shouldn’t be allowed on the road!”

Kanvi stuck her hand out sideways for a moment just to flip them both off, then went back to racing.

The final stretch approached—the upward slope toward the cliff viewpoint. The incline wasn’t steep, but it required skill and speed control, two things Kanvi rarely used together.

Priyanshi sped ahead first, yelling triumphantly. “GOODBYE EVERYONE!”

Kiara gritted her teeth and leaned forward, slipping into a smoother gear shift. “Not happening today.”

Kanvi pushed her bike to its limit. “COME ON BABY! TODAY WE WIN!”

“Stop shouting at the bike!” Priyanshi yelled back.

“Motivation is important!” Kanvi insisted.

Their bikes roared louder than ever, wheels gripping the pavement with fierce determination. Each girl tried to outpace the others, their shoulders nearly brushing. The air buzzed with adrenaline; laughter mixed with wind; chaos blended with thrill.

For a moment, it felt like the three of them were the only people in the world.

The cliff viewpoint neared. Just a few more meters. They pushed harder, legs tense, posture bent low, breath shallow. The finish line wasn’t official, just a spot marked by a white stone Kanvi had placed years ago during a picnic and declared “sacred.”

Priyanshi looked like she was seconds away from victory.

Kanvi looked like she was seconds away from death.

Kiara looked like she regretted every life choice that led her here.

They skidded to a stop together.

Literally together.

All three bikes screeched, tyres drawing dark lines on the asphalt, kicking up dust and smoke. The wheels wobbled from the force, but somehow, miraculously, all three remained upright.

The world went silent for two full seconds.

The girls, breathing heavily, slowly removed their helmets.

Their hair was a mess. Their faces were flushed. Their expressions confused.

Kanvi broke the silence. “I won.”

“No, you didn’t,” Kiara replied instantly.

Priyanshi threw her helmet onto the ground. “I CLEARLY won!”

Kiara pointed to the tyre marks behind them. “Let’s check.”

They walked backward and stared.

The tyre marks were a tangled disaster. Three black, chaotic lines ending almost at the exact same point.

“This… means nothing,” Kiara said flatly.

“It looks like modern art,” Priyanshi muttered.

Kanvi crossed her arms. “Fine. Let’s call it a tie.”

“NO!” the other two protested together.

But they were exhausted, hungry, and too breathless to argue properly.

Kiara sighed. “Okay… fine. Tie.”

Priyanshi made a face. “Ugh. Fine.”

Kanvi punched the air in victory. “YES! Which means I didn’t lose!”

“You also didn’t win,” Kiara reminded.

“Details,” Kanvi said.

Priyanshi rolled her eyes but slung an arm around both of them. “I swear, I’ll break friendship with you one day.”

Kanvi leaned into her. “You love me too much.”

Kiara wrapped her other arm around them both. “We all need therapy.”

They laughed—loud, messy, genuine. The kind of laughter that echoed across the cliff and carried into the fading light.

Their bikes cooled behind them. The world grew quieter. The sky deepened from gold to violet. And standing there, hair tangled by wind and hearts still racing, the three girls felt something warm settle between them.

Not victory.

Not competition.

Just friendship—loud, chaotic, ridiculous, perfect friendship.

Kanvi glanced at them. “So… ice cream?”

Priyanshi groaned. “You’re paying.”

Kiara added, “And you’re not driving.”

Kanvi pouted but didn’t argue.

Together, they walked toward their bikes again, laughing as though the world belonged to them. And in that moment, maybe it did.

******************************************************

In car, going towards the Ice cream parlour for the treat.

They all are laughing remembering their old time. Just then Kiara says "Pri, Kanu I need to tell you something" in serious tone.

Priyanshi and Kanvi understand it's an important talk.

Then Kanvi said "Tell ki what happen."

Kiara: When mom tell me about Chauhan's I hack their information, but I can't find the information of their adopted son.

Priyanshi: Adopted son.

Kiara: Yes, adopted son and I just come to know today after mall.

Priyanshi: Well, that's not normal. You are the best hacker. It means he was not a normal person.

Kanvi: Okay lets do one thing ki when you go home hack his information if you are not able to find it, we take help from her.

Priyanshi: Yeah, that's nice.

They reached the Ice cream parlour.

Kiara: Ok, let's go

The ice-cream parlour smelled like vanilla, burnt sugar, and terrible decisions. Neon lights flickered softly, pink and blue reflecting on the glass counters. Kids chattered, couples whispered, and somewhere in the background, an old Bollywood song played like it was trying to make everyone fall in love with somebody.

Kanvi pushed the door open dramatically. “Ta-da! Dessert destination.”

Kiara rolled her eyes as she followed. “Stop announcing your entry like you’re entering Koffee with Karan.”

Priyanshi walked in last, dusting her jacket. “I’m so tired. That race fried my soul.”

Kanvi placed a hand over her heart. “Then ice-cream shall revive you.”

But as they found an empty booth and slid in—Kanvi on one side, Kiara and Priyanshi on the other—their playful chatter softened.

Something felt… off.

Incomplete.

The empty seat across from them practically screamed it.

Kanvi tapped the table. “Feels weird, right?”

Kiara didn’t look up as she picked up the menu. “Very weird.”

Priyanshi traced circles on the glass tabletop. “This is her spot.”

The booth had four seats. It always had four girls. Four flavours ordered. Four spoons clinking against bowls. Four voices fighting over who would pay.

But tonight, the fourth seat sat empty, untouched, almost shy in its quietness.

Kanvi tried to lighten the mood. “Okay listen—if she were here, she would’ve declared that only she gets to order for everyone. Because apparently we have no ‘taste’.”

Priyanshi burst into a soft laugh. “Her taste was horrible. She ordered bubblegum ice-cream for herself every single time.”

Kiara scoffed. “Bubblegum isn’t even ice-cream, it’s toothpaste with trauma.”

Kanvi smiled, small and nostalgic. “And still, she would force us to taste it every time.”

Priyanshi nodded. “And then laugh when we gagged.”

“And then steal half of our scoops,” Kiara added.

“Half?” Kanvi gasped. “She robbed me. Robbed. My cone was practically charity.”

Their laughter slowly faded, replaced by that quiet ache again—the kind that comes when someone’s absence is louder than any noise.

Kiara flipped the menu closed and sighed. “Why do I feel like ordering is illegal without her?”

Kanvi looked at the waiter approaching. “Sir, give us two minutes. We are mourning bubblegum flavor.”

Priyanshi hid her face in her hands, laughing helplessly. “KANU DI—”

The waiter walked away. The girls relaxed a little, the joke easing the heaviness.

But the silence returned—soft, gentle, familiar.

Kanvi leaned her chin on the table. “I know she’s just… busy, or far, or doing whatever she does. But I miss her commentary. Her nonsense. Her stupid jokes. Her stupid challenging attitude. Her stupid face.”

Priyanshi stared at the empty seat and whispered, “I miss her taking my fries without asking.”

Kiara nodded. “I miss her complaining about the AC temperature.”

Kanvi sighed. “I miss her yelling at me to stop being dramatic.”

Priyanshi elbowed her. “That’s not her job. We also do that.”

Kanvi pouted. “But her yelling was special.”

They all chuckled. It wasn’t loud laughter—it was the kind that came with warmth creeping into their chests, a feeling like remembering a song you loved long ago.

Just then, a girl at a nearby table laughed loudly, the exact kind of laugh their fourth friend usually had—sharp, sudden, infectious. All three of them turned instinctively, hearts lifting for a second… only to realize it wasn’t her.

Priyanshi’s smile dropped. “I really thought—”

“Same,” Kanvi whispered.

Kiara let out a long, steady breath. “She’s everywhere today except here.”

Kanvi nodded, eyes softening. “That’s what happens when someone becomes home.”

The waiter returned, pen ready. “Order, ma’am?”

Kanvi looked at Kiara.

Kiara looked at Priyanshi.

Priyanshi looked at the empty seat.

Then Priyanshi said softly, “We’ll order four bowls.”

Kiara blinked. “Four?”

Kanvi didn’t question it. “Haan. Four.”

Maybe it was silly. Maybe it was dramatic. Maybe it was unnecessary.

But it felt right.

So they ordered four different flavors—their usuals—and one bubblegum.

For her.

When the ice-cream arrived, the booths around them buzzed with chatter and laughter, but their corner felt slow, gentle, held together by shared memories.

Kiara slid the bubblegum bowl to the empty seat. “She’ll fight us when she finds out. ‘Why you wasted money on me when I wasn’t even there,’ she’ll say.”

Priyanshi smiled at the bowl as though their friend might appear any second to steal a spoonful. “She’ll accuse us of being emotional.”

Kanvi dipped her spoon into her scoop. “We are emotional. And annoying. That’s why we’re friends.”

They ate slowly, talking about nothing and everything—complaining about college, teasing Kanvi, arguing about flavours, planning what movie to watch later.

But at intervals, they all glanced at the fourth bowl.

Still there.

Still full.

Still waiting.

Kiara finished first and leaned back, sighing. “Do you think she misses us too?”

Priyanshi hummed. “Of course she does. She just hides it better.”

Kanvi smiled sadly. “Let her come back. Then we’ll scold her properly.”

Kiara nodded. “And hug her.”

Priyanshi added, “And steal her fries.”

Kanvi grinned. “And ban bubblegum ice-cream forever.”

Their laughter filled the booth again—soft, warm, real.

The fourth chair stayed empty, but somehow, her presence sat with them anyway.

In their memories.

In their jokes.

In the bubblegum bowl that nobody touched.

And even though they were three tonight, they felt like four.

Because missing someone meant they were still there—in a hundred tiny ways.

When they finally got up to leave, Kanvi looked at the untouched bowl and whispered, “Next time, come yourself. We saved your seat.”

Priyanshi added softly, “And your bowl.”

Kiara smiled, locking her arm with theirs. “And your place. Always.”

Together, they walked out into the night—three shadows under neon lights, carrying the weight of a fourth heartbeat with them.
